A French consortium of Alstom, Colas Rail and Thales is to deliver a brand new metro system for the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi.
Hanoi Line 3, due to open by the end of 2021, will be 12.5 km long and with 12 stations. The contract also includes the construction of a new maintenance depot.
Line 3, which includes a combination of elevated and underground sections, will link the city’s western district of Nhon and Hanoi Railway Station.
For the past 10 years, Hanoi has been pursuing an ambitious metro strategy. Line 3 is one of two metro lines currently under construction in the city.
It is estimated that once in service the line will carry 8,600 people an hour in each direction.
Alstom will supply 10 Metropolis trains, the CBTC signalling system and, alongside Colas Rail, the depot equipment and power supply. Thales will deliver the Operational Control Center and telecommunications packages.
