CAF to supply shunting locomotives for RATP

RATP, the Paris Metro and RER operator, has ordered up to 12 new dual-mode electric locomotives from CAF.

The contract, which has been estimated at around €65 million, includes a firm order for six new locomotives.

The dual-mode, shunting units will have nickel-cadmium batteries onboard which will allow them to operate on electrified and non-electrified routes.

The locos will be built in France and production is due to begin in Bagnères de Bigorre next year. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2019, CAF has said.

  1. Yes, Lobro, I agree this is the true irony that it is impossible (supposedly) to gather much evidence for the death camps, especially Auschwitz, because it “offends the memory of the dead” and yet the Museum of Tolerance decides to build on a Muslim graveyard and finds it incomprehensible that Muslims might be offended that the dead are being dug up and who knows thrown into piles of rubble. Yet irony seems to only happen here on this website because to the “mainstream world” there is a world of difference between a death camp graveyard (or at least what is described as death camp holy ground) and a Muslim graveyard. That irony seems so obvious to me it’s like (what) jumping into a glacier lake when the cold hits, metaphors escape me at the moment. It is as obvious as words on this page–but it is completely not obvious to even the most ordinary hypnotized main stream media person who might be driving down the road and listening to NPR. That is because we are conditioned to see the Jewish situation as uniquely different and so Jewish bones (hypothetical bones) are somehow rarified and holy and Muslim bones (real bones) go in the construction site heap. The insult blows me away but apparently not Jewish people and there is the different that I can’t dismiss. Bad metaphor but the irony turns to iron in my soul.
