Sweden’s Hector Rail AB has exercised an option for 15 Vectron alternating-current (AC) locomotives.

The locomotives, which will operate using ETCS signalling and ATC2-STM train control equipment, are an option on an order placed in July 2016.

As well as a power output of 6,400 KW, the locomotives will be equipped with a diesel power module for short, non-electrified sections.

Deliveries are due to begin in spring 2018. Once in service, the locomotives will be used to transport timber in Sweden and Norway.
