Railway construction and maintenance firm TSO – a subsidiary of the French public works group NGE – has been appointed alongside Alstom to deliver civil works and tracks for the Avignon tramway project.

TSO will lead the group with Guintoli, EHTP and Agilis completing the consortium.

The project will see the construction of 5.4km of double track railway, including eight turnouts, 10 stations and a maintenance centre.

The project also includes the design, supply and installation of the civil works platforms and track.

The appointed was made by project owner the Greater Avignon Agglomeration and Tecelys after a public tender.

Work is expected to last 20 months and is scheduled to end in January, 2019.

TSO CEO Jean Bernadet said: “We are very proud to associate ourselves with partners like Alstom to pool our skills and expertise in order to carry out a large-scale project such as this one.”
