SNCF has launched a consultation to find a private-sector partner to help transform its landmark Gare du Nord station.

Work at Gare du Nord is being delivered in two phases. The first is already underway and will be completed in 2019. It includes the refurbishment of RER platforms, the opening of a new Eurostar business lounge, a new metro exit and the redevelopment of the Eurostar terminal to accommodate the 20 per cent increase in passengers created by the new e320 train sets.

The second phase of work, which is expected to involve more significant changes to the station’s layout, will begin in 2019 and be completed by 2024 – in time for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, for which SNCF is one of the official event partners.

SNCF plans to announce its new project partner at the end of next year.
