Forget Stationy McStationface, members of the public in Australia have been suggesting names for new Melbourne Metro Tunnel stations, and Game of Thrones-inspired locations have proved popular choices.

Central Business District North may become Winterfell, Arden could be The Wall, or Domain Casterly Rock should the “popular” trend gain enough support and pass approval.

In an announcement on August 28, a statement from Melbourne Metro Tunnel read: “All eligible suggestions will be considered and ideas could draw on a range of elements, including geographic locations, local heritage and people who have made a significant historical contribution to Victorian life.”

In total five new underground stations are being built as part of the 9km twin-bore Melbourne Metro Tunnel: Arden, Parkville, CBD North, CBD South and Domain.

Melbourne Metro Tunnel will run from North Melbourne to South Yarra and remove traffic from the City Loop and create extra capacity around the core network.

Members of the public have until October 22 to make their suggestions.
