CRRC has signed an historic metro train deal with Sao Paulo.
On September 1, CRRC Sifang – a CCRC subsidiary based in Qingda, Shandong province, China – signed a contract with authorities in Sao Paulo for eight eight-car metro trains (64 in total), CRRC’s first metro order in the Brazilian city.
The trains will be supplied to the Sao Paulo metro railway company to operate on Line 13, a 10.3km line which is currently under construction.
The metro trains will run at a maximum speed of 90km/h and come fitted with derailment detection technology and 3G and 4G transmitters.
The vehicles will be delivered from 2019 according to CRRC.
Line 13 is due to open in 2018, connecting Safira station on Line 12 and Guarulhos International Airport.
