Swedish engineering consultancy Sweco is to design and project manage the delivery of a new maintenance depot for Line 15 East of the Grand Paris Express metro network.

Sweco is already providing a design and project management service for Line 17 – one of the new lines being constructed for the new network.

Erwin Malcorps, managing director of Sweco Belgium, said: “The maintenance complex for Line 15 East is a significant component of the Grand Paris Express project.

“We are glad that Société du Grand Paris yet again chooses our expertise and commitment to improve commuting for Paris’ travellers.”

The new facility will primarily maintain the fleet for Line 15 East but it will also support neighbouring lines, Sweco has said.

Line 15 is one of four new lines being built. The new orbital route is split into three sections: Line 15 South, Line 15 West and Line 15 East. Line 15 East will open in phases between 2025 and 2030.

The new maintenance facility will be located in Rosny-sous-Bois.

Altogether, 200 km of new metro line and new 68 stations are being built for the Grand Paris Express network. One of the main aims of the scheme is to reduce congestion by allowing passengers to travel across the city without having to go through the metro’s central core.
