Spanish rolling stock manufacturer CAF has won two contracts for trams: one in Seattle, Washington, and one Kansas City, Missouri, in the USA.
The $50 million contract with the Seattle Department of Transport (SDOT) covers 10 three-vehicle Urbos trams.
The trams will have a 100 per cent low floor and come with onboard energy storage to run on catenary-free sections of the network.
Also included in the contract is an option for an additional 10 vehicles, spare parts, special tools and testing equipment.
The $10 million contract with the Kansas City Transport Authority is for an additional two trams, adding to the four it has previously supplied.
In a statement, a spokesperson for CAF said that the projects undertaken by CAF in the USA now exceeds $1.8 billion.
