Île-de-France Mobilités, formerly called STIF, has presented the first Regio 2N EMU for the French region.

The Île-de-France region ordered 42 Regio 2N units for €589 million in December 2014.

Commercial commissioning of the first Regio 2N will begin in December and will be completed by the end of 2018.

The first five trains will operate between Melun and Montereau.

By the end of 2021, at least 125 new Regio 2N trainsets will be delivered to the Ile-de-France network.

The Regio 2N fleet will replace the Z5300 sets, which were brought into service in the mid-1960s.

The first train was presented in the new Île-de-France livery on October 19 by Alain Krakovitch, SNCF Transilien general manager, and Laurent Bouyer, president of Bombardier Transport France.

A further 83 Regio 2N units were ordered earlier this year for lines N, R and D.
