Passenger operators SNCF and Korail have expanded a 15-year partnership.
Building on the pair’s growing collaboration, the two companies have amended a memorandum of understanding which was signed in 2011 to draw on each other’s expertise.
Previously focused on maintenance, the agreement has been extended to cover new aims such as to strengthen sales, marketing and high-speed train technology.
Korail has taken an interest in SNCF’s sales and marketing experience, for example yield management, while Korail has been sharing its knowledge as leaders in customer applications, the Internet of Things and issues surrounding telecoms and energy.
In April 2015, Seoul station was twinned with Paris-Lyon station and the twinning of Bordeaux and Gwangmyeong is now being considered.
After the United States, South Korea is the second most important international market for SNCF’s ticket-selling subsidiary Voyages-sncf.com.
The development in the relationship between the French and Korean operators was established during a visit to Korea between November 1-3.
