Video: Story of Manchester’s Ordsall Chord rail project

On the day it was officially completed, Network Rail released a video explaining the work that has gone into constructing the Ordsall Chord – the UK’s first network arch bridge.

Earlier today, Britain’s Rail Minister, Paul Maynard, installed the final rail clip to signal the completion of bridge, which will link Manchester’s Piccadilly, Victoria and Oxford Road stations.

The first passenger train will use the Ordsall Chord when it opens in December.

  1. Well done to the Network Rail Orange work team for constructing the new bridge and the new Ordsall Chord rail link that will connect both Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Victoria stations and also to become the gateway to the North of England as part of the Northern Powerhouse Project across the North of England that needs better transport in the future. Hopefully it should open early next year.
