Consultants WSP USA and HNTB have been appointed by the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) to manage phase two of the Bay Area Rapid Transit extension to Silicon Valley.
Phase one is a 10 mile stretch from Fremont to Milpitas and the Berryessa District in San Jose, which is due to open in 2018.
Phase two is six miles long and includes a five mile tunnel through downtown San Jose to Santa Clara. Planning is currently underway for this project.
As the program manager for phase two, the WSP-HNTB joint venture will be responsible for conceptual design, engineering management, project controls, contracting strategies, utilities coordination, constructibility reviews, value engineering, and the development of procurement documents.
