Free travel until February on Luxembourg’s new tramway

Luxembourg’s new light rail network, Luxtram, has commissioned the first new section of tramway.

The initial 8km line was opened on December 10, connecting Luxepo to the Pont Rouge with eight stations and two interchanges.

Marking the launch of the network, Luxtram has said that passengers will be able to enjoy free travel on it until January 31, 2018.

CAF has supplied 21 Urbos light rail vehicles for the new tramway.

Each of the six trams on the network has a capacity for 422 passengers. They will run at six minute intervals during peak times at top speeds of 70km/h.
