Indian Railways starts mega recruitment drive for 90,000 personnel

One of the world’s largest recruitment drives has been launched in India.

Indian Railways’ Railway Recruitment Board has announced it is on the lookout for candidates to fill 89,409 vacancies in positions such as track maintainer, porter, crane driver, assistant locomotive driver and blacksmith.

The Group C and D posts are part of a wider recruitment process to fill various roles. The total number of vacancies is understood to be around 120,000.

Applications for the posts close on March 5, with computer-based aptitude tests starting in April.

Successful candidates, who must be aged between 18 and 31 with the relevant qualifications, will earn between Rs 18,000 to 63,200 (∼€225 to ∼€791) per month depending on the position.
