Trenes Argentinos Infraestructura, which manages Argentina’s rail infrastructure, has awarded Alstom a €16 million contract for signalling work on five suburban line stations.

The deal covers the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of a relay interlocking, point machines, signals, local and remote control posts, track circuits and power supply systems at the following Belgrano Norte suburban line stations in Buenos Aires: Ciudad Universitaria, Aristóbulo del Valle, Munro, Boulogne Sur Mer and Grand Bourg.

Alstom, which has worked in Argentina since 1993, said that the award is its first direct contract from Trenes Argentinos Infraestructura.

The 54km-long Belgrano Norte line is one of seven suburban lines in Buenos Aires’ metropolitan area.

It is currently undergoing a €87 million rennovation programme, which is being funded by Trenes Argentinos Infraestructura.

Alstom’s Latin America senior vice-president Michel Boccaccio said: “We celebrate this new Alstom contract in Argentina, as we continue to work on the different suburban lines, meaning that the quality of our equipment is recognised by our customer.

“We look forward to further opportunities to offer our experience and technology to the Argentine transportation system.”
