RegioJet receives first Traxx locomotives

Czech open access operator RegioJet has announced it has received the first of two new Bombardier Traxx locomotives.

A RegioJet spokesperson said that the locomotives arrived over the weekend of April 14-15, after being assembled and tested by Bombardier at its Kassel plant, Germany, and that they are now being tested at the Velim railway circuit, Czech Republic.

From May, 2018, these new locomotives will operate on the Prague – Ostrava – Kosice line and also on lines from Prague to Brno and Breclav and further to Bratislava and Vienna.

The Bombardier Traxx MS2 locomotives have a maximum speed of 160km/h and recently received approval to operate on Czech, Slovak and Austrian railways.
