SNCF has acquired a six-hectare site in Romilly-sur-Seine where it plans to build a new technical centre of excellence.

Described as part of SNCF’s “factory of the future” approach, the site will specialise in the “repair of mechanical and electromechanical” components.

Work is due to start immediately on the €25 million centre, which will employ around 275 people, and will open in the second quarter of 2019.

SNCF plans to turn most of the existing depot site in Romilly-sur-Seine into a huge train recycling centre.
