Alstom has reaffirmed its pledge to develop its presence in Ukraine by opening a new office and appointing a dedicated business development manager.

Luca Erbacci, the train maker’s senior vice-president for Europe, made the commitment during a meeting with Ukrainian Railways and the country’s Ministry of Economic Development & Trade back in April.

Alstom already has experience of the 1520mm track gauge, having built locomotives in Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.

It has appointed former chief of export sales Vadym Pavlenko from Kryukovsky Railway Car Building Works to create direct contacts with main economic and rail stakeholders in Ukraine to identify the needs of the local market and look at potential partnerships.
