China Railway Corp awards €280m high-speed train contract

Bombardier Sifang Transportation (BST) has been awarded a contract by China Railway Corp (CRC) to supply 120 CR400AF new high-speed train cars for China’s high-speed rail network.

The cars have an operating speed of 350km/h and will be configured into five eight-car trainsets and five 16-car trainsets.

The total contract is valued at approximately €280 million. Bombardier Transportation owns 50 per cent of the shares in BST and CRRC Sifang the other 50 per cent.

First delivery is expected for October with all 120 cars to be delivered by the end of 2018.

Bombardier Transportation China president Jianwei Zhang said: “We are very proud to be qualified, through the joint venture BST, to supply the new generation of high-speed railway CR400.
