The first of 23 Citadis X05 trams for Caen la Mer, France, have been delivered by Alstom to the tram operation and maintenance centre at Fleury-sur-Orne.

After leaving Alstom’s La Rochelle site on October 2, the tram was received two days later by elected community representatives and personnel from Alstom.

The Citadis X05 tram is 33m-long and equipped with six double doors on each side, and will be able to transport more than 210 passengers.

Around 45 per cent of the tram will be covered in large windows. Six passenger information screens will feature inside as will USB charging points – a first in France.

The delivery is based on a €52 million order secured by Alstom in November 2016.
