Hyundai Rotem has secured another contract from Bangladesh Railway for the supply of locomotives.

The $239 million order for 70 diesel-electric locomotives, announced on October 11, follows an order for 10 diesel-electric locomotives in May.

These awards have been made possible thanks to synergies with trade firm POSCO Daewoo and financial support from the Korea Trade Insurance Corporation and the Export-Import Bank of Korea.

The 19m-long locomotives will have a maximum speed of 110km/h and will operate on the route between Dhaka and Chittagong.
