Vibration isolation specialist Getzner has opened a production facility in Decatur, Illinois, to “better exploit the promising North American market”.

Elastic bearings for railway traffic and products for the bedding of buildings will be made at the new site.

The new factory will meet the requirements of the Buy America Act – meaning the manufacturing takes place in the USA and the raw materials are also sourced locally. The Act requires companies to use products made in the USA for publicly financed projects.

CEO Jürgen Rainalter said: “The production facility opens up a whole range of new opportunities for us in the USA.

“Our centre of expertise, along with research and development, will remain in Buers. That is important to us and it should remain that way.”

Getzner’s US headquarters are in Charlotte, North Carolina, which is also being expanded to create additional space.
