Crossrail launches employment drive

Listen to this article

Crossrail will hold an open event tonight to give job seekers the chance to work on Europe’s biggest rail infrastructure project.

At the peak of construction, 14,000 workers will be involved in the project across London.

Last week project leaders announced that they had completed the first tunnelling “breakthrough” at the Limmo Peninsular worksite, near Canning Town.

The company said it is looking for workers from all backgrounds, but particularly those with experience in planning or cost engineering, contract administration, quantity surveying or field engineering with heavy tunnelling experience.

The Crossrail project will involve building 21km of tunnels under London and eight new stations.

The open evening takes place this Thursday at the Crossrail Visitor Information Centre, 16-18 St Giles High Street WC2H 8LN, from 16.30 until 20.30
