E-ticketing extended on Germany’s regional rail network

Listen to this article

Touch & Travel e-ticketing has been extended to cover the whole of Brandenburg, marking another significant milestone in the rise of the technology throughout Germany.

The service, which was previously only available in the central A, B and C tariff zones surrounding Berlin, allows customers to easily travel without having to buy paper tickets.

Passengers log in to the service before and after their journey through a smartphone and the cost is calculated automatically.

Touch & Travel can be used on national services across Germany, including certain trans-European services. The technology has also been taken up by a number of regional transport authorities.
