‘Essential repairs’ made to Huttons Ambo rail bridge

Listen to this article

Despite the freezing temperatures this weekend, engineers undertook ‘essential repairs’ to Huttons Ambo rail bridge in North Yorkshire.

The bridge waybeams are being renewed along with other works to the track and structure to keep rail services ‘running safely and reliably’.

Warrick Dent, general manager for Network Rail, said:

“We have had scaffolding up since November as the vast majority of works are being completed without disrupting trains.

“The complexity of the job over the past two weekends has meant that trains could not run.

“This disruption has been kept to an absolute minimum and we intend to complete the job with no further disruption to services.”

The project is due to complete by the middle of April.
