The cross-border TGV service between Frankfurt and Marseille is celebrating its first birthday.

Around 150,000 passengers have used the joint DB/SNCF high-speed service since it was launched on March 23, 2012.

“This exceeded our expectations by far,” said Ulrich Homburg, chief executive of DB’s passenger operations.

Tickets for the 320km/h TGV Europlex double-decker service are available from 39 euro.

The Frankfurt-Marseille service uses the Rhine-Rhône LGV line, travelling through Mannheim, Karlsruhe, Baden-Baden, Strasbourg, Mulhouse, Lyon, Avignon and Aix-en-Provence.
