Mitsubishi to test CBTC system on New York subway network

Listen to this article

MTA has awarded Mitsubishi Electric Corporation a contract to test and verify its CBTC system with those already being developed by Siemens and Thales.

MTA is looking to increase its pool of potential suppliers and has given Mitsubishi the chance to test the interoperability of its equipment with the systems already being supplied.

Last Year, Siemens and Thales were awarded contracts to develop Communication-based train control (CBTC) systems for the Queens Boulevard Line – the second-longest line on the New York subway network.

If succesful, Mitsubishi will be certified as an official manufacturer of CBTC products for the MTA rail network.
