A new 23-kilometre light rail line connecting the Canadian cities of Mississauga and Brampton has been approved by the Ontario Government.
The Hurontario-Main Light Rail Transit (LRT) project will be funded through the multi-billion dollar Moving Ontario Forward infrastructure investment programme.
Transport operator Metrolinx will lead the delivery of the $1.6 billion line.
Construction is scheduled to begin in 2018, with an estimated start date of 2022.
Moving Ontario Forward will see $31.5 billion invested in transport infrastructure projects over the next 10 years.
