São Paulo launches Line 18 consultation

Listen to this article

São Paulo residents are being asked for their thoughts on the city’s latest plans to extend its busy metro system.

A consultation has been launched into Line 18 – a proposed 20km monorail, connecting São Paulo, São Caetano, Santo André and São Bernardo do Campo.

A draft tender document for the construction, operation and maintenance of the line have been made available and citizens have 30 days to comment on the plans.

The $3.5 billion monorail is one of three being built in São Paulo. Lines 15 and 17 are already under construction.

The Secretary of State Metropolitan Transportation is aiming to publish the concession tender for Line 18 in September and name the new operator in December.
