Spain approves ADIF split

Listen to this article

The Spanish government has approved the creation of a new public body to oversee the construction and management of the country’s high-speed network.

In December 2013, a Royal Decree set out plans to split up the responsibilities of the country’s infrastructure manager and establish a dedicated high-speed rail authority.

All high-speed rail activities will now be transferred to ADIF Alta Velocidad (High Speed) while the existing organisation will manage Spain’s conventional rail network.
