Children from across India have submitted their visions for urban transport as part of a competition led by Bombardier and the Canadian High Commission.
Malvika Jain, 14, from Amritsar, was announced as the winner (pictured) out of 1,200 entries, with more than 21,000 people voting for their favourite design on the High Commission’s Facebook page.
Artwork produced by the 36 finalists will now be incorporated into special displays at High Commission events.
Harsh Dhingra, chief country representative, Bombardier Transportation India, said: “This art competition showcases these young artists’ holistic visions for urban planning.
“Tomorrow’s transport solutions have to match the requirements of urban planners for the cities of the future.
“By 2050, more than two out of every three people in the world are expected to be living in cities. This art competition gives us a fresh perspective on what smart, interconnected urban mobility could look like in the future to move more people than ever before quickly, economically and efficiently.”
