Listen to this article

For the second year running, Eurail Group G.I.E. was the recipient of the Sustainable Travel Provider 2010 prize. This prestigious label was awarded by the “New European Economy Awards.”

The Eurail Group G.I.E. manages and markets the Eurail Pass on behalf of its member railways and shipping companies. The Group consistently aims to educate both business and leisure travelers about the advantages of travelling by train in Europe. The wide range of available rail products gives the pass holder the added freedom to create their own itinerary en route.

Highly developed national rail systems have long been a vital means of cost-efficient, environmentally responsible and comfortable transportation. With more than 225,000 miles of track in today’s European railway network covered by Eurail’s stakeholders, European rail travel offers a safe, fast and reliable alternative to airplanes and cars.

Modern high-speed trains transport passengers swiftly between cities, enabling access to meetings and conferences in a timely fashion. Travel time can be used in a productive manner, as many trains are equipped with wireless internet and fixed table reservations are available for travelers. Eurail Pass business travelers often arrive at their final destination feeling relaxed, refreshed and ready to face their clients and associates.

“We are delighted to accept this award for the second time because we want to be recognized not only as the market leader in European Rail Passes, but also for our environmentally responsible approach to tourism. In addition, we hope more business orientated travelers will consider the advantages of Eurai Pass travel” says Ana Dias e Seixas, Eurail Group’s Marketing Director.

“Potential customers have a tendency to compare their local train facilities with the European railway network, however, this can create misconceptions. Here at the Eurail Group, we will endeavor to spread the message about the sustainability of European rail travel for both present and future generations.”
