Study to consider environmental impact of Dallas-Houston HSR

Listen to this article

Rail authorities in the USA are planning to produce an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for a proposed 386-kilometre high-speed railway between Dallas and Houston.

The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has now collected views on the proposed alignment and plans to produce a scoping report for the planned route.

The Central Texas High-Speed Rail Corridor would be a dedicated high-speed rail line. Texas Central High-Speed Railway has partnered with JR Central to develop a high-speed system based on Japan’s successful Shinkansen technology.

A draft EIS is expected to be published later this year.
