25 years of the Freightliner Retirement Association

Listen to this article

To mark 25 years since the formation in 1985 of the Freightliner Retirement Association (FRA), the organisation held a Christmas luncheon in Birmingham.

This was the culmination of a number of events to mark this significant milestone.

On this occasion the Association was pleased to welcome a number of former Managing Directors of Freightliner, as well as Peter Maybury, the current CEO of Freightliner Group Ltd.

The FRA has nearly 200 members who worked for the railway freight company and are now retired. Informal monthly meetings are held at various locations around the country, with two formal luncheons taking place in May and December.

Despite the membership being made up of retired railwaymen and women, it continues to flourish, and still attracts new members who worked for Freightliner both pre- and post- privatisation.
