Deutsche Bahn (DB) and the state of Baden-Württemberg have agreed a new traffic plan which includes the introduction of new double-deck IC trains.

From 2017, 17 new double-deck trains, representing an investment of €280 million, will begin operating hourly services on the Gäubahn between Stuttgart and Zurich

Although travel times will remain broadly the same, the new trains will double the current number of IC services between Stuttgart, Singen and Zurich.

As well as the Gäubahn, the new IC trains will be rolled out between Karlsruhe-Pforzheim-Stuttgart-Aalen-Nürnberg.
