Technical consultant ÅF has been awarded one of the main contracts in Sweden’s Västlänken (West Link) project.

The company will support the Swedish Transport Administration, in conjunction with White Architects, on the Korsvägen railway station.

The West Link Project is a planned eight-kilometre long railway tunnel under central Gothenburg, which aims to significantly increase capacity and reduce travel times on the city’s existing network.

In addition to a new Central Station, two new stations will also be built.

Over a three year period, ÅF will provide advice and support in the technical areas of geotechnology, rock engineering, civil construction, hydrogeology, environmental impact assessments and structural engineering.
