Is the dispute between London Midland & ASLEF finally over?

Listen to this article

Following London Midland’s announcement last week that they were ‘in talks’ with ASLEF, strikes have been called off.

The dispute between the driver’s union and the train operating company over pay  and working conditions has been going on for months.

Many passengers have had their journeys disrupted and trains cancelled on a weekly basis due to driver shortages as a result of strikes.

London Midland said they were being ‘held to ransom’ by ASLEF, who in turn, said they were in a ‘ludicrous’ situation.

Yesterday ASLEF said:

“Negotiators for ASLEF and London Midland have come to a draft agreement over a pay dispute following several days of intense talks.

“This means that industrial action will not take place in the company and the terms of the draft agreement will be put to ASLEF members for their endorsement.”
