Listen to this article

The consortium building São Paulo’s Line 6 metro has awarded Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) and Mitsui a contract to design and install the line’s driverless operating system.

MHI and Mitsui, in partnership with local contractors, will deliver the automation system on behalf of the Move São Paulo consortium (Odebrecht, Queiroz Galvão and UTC Participações), which was awarded a 25-year concession to build and operate the new line.

The project, which will include the signalling, communication systems, power supply and distribution systems, overhead catenary, depot equipment and facilities, platform screen doors and tunnel ventilation systems, is expected to be commissioned in 2020.
