Seibu Railway Corporation orders Kawasaki commuter trains

Kawasaki Heavy Industries has received an order from Seibu Railway Corporation for eight new 40000 series commuter trains.

The 10-car, aluminium body trains will be manufactured at Kawasaki’s Hyogo factory in Kobe.

Delivery is scheduled to begin from spring 2016 and be completed in 2019.

The Seibu Railway operates suburban railway services in Tokyo and the new trains are due to go into passenger service in early 2017.
