Silentbloc UK, part of polymer technology solutions provider Icon Polymer Group, has won a prestigious award from Siemens for its work with the company in the rail sector.

At a Supplier Day held at Warwick Castle, Rob Downes of Silentbloc UK collected the award for Silentbloc UK’s contribution to the success of the Siemens Class 444 overhaul programme during 2011.

The Desiro Class 444 is one of the most reliable EMU Vehicles in the country.

For this project, Silentbloc UK – a world-leading rubber-to-metal component supplier for a variety of rail applications – contributed two key components: its BJH092 and BJM3477 ball joints which form part of the bogie’s suspension system.

A key factor in Siemens’ decision to work with Silentbloc UK was the company’s ability to mitigate risk for Siemens by supplying the components locally at a competitive price through its global supply chain while guaranteeing their fitness for purpose.

Silentbloc UK was also able to combine local engineering support and service with the flexibility to meet Siemens’ dynamic production schedules.

Rob Downes of Silentbloc UK Ltd commented:

“This award is a prestigious one and confirms our status as a key partner to Siemens which is itself a world leader in bogie manufacture.”
