Union Pacific Railroad is enhancing Colorado’s transportation infrastructure by investing $4 million in the rail line that runs between Grand Junction and Cameo.

The project is in progress and is scheduled to be completed by mid May.

The nearly 27-mile project includes replacing 25,200 ties, spreading 13,300 tons of rock ballast to help provide a more stable roadbed and renewing the surfaces at 42 road crossings.

Union Pacific plans to invest $3.6 billion in its rail network during 2012.
