Vintage subway cars return to New York’s network

Listen to this article

Subway cars dating back to the 1930s have returned to New York’s underground system to make up the city’s annual Holiday Nostalgia Train.

The classic carriages have been running on the M line between 2nd Avenue and Queens Plaza every Sunday since Thanksgiving and will continue to pick up passengers into the new year.

The train is made up of subway cars from 1932 to 1977 and an era when ceiling fans and padded seats were the height of luxury.
