Konya tram to begin testing

The first of 60 new Škoda trams for the Turkish city of Konya has rolled off the assembly line.

Konya’s new fleet of bi-directional trams are capable of carrying 364 passengers and will operate in five-car configurations.

Testing will now be completed in Konya before the trams go into operation.

Škoda Transportation said the design of the new vehicles was inspired by Islamic architecture and the city of Konya itself.
