Porterbrook purchases rolling stock from Metro

Listen to this article

Porterbrook Leasing Company Limited (known as ‘Porterbrook’) has completed the purchase of 7 Class 155 units and 10 Class 144 Centre Cars from West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive; also known as Metro.

The 2-car Class 155 Diesel Multiple Units are the only units of this class in existence as the remainder were subsequently converted as single car Class 153s.

The Class 144s are likewise unique being the only ‘Pacer’ centre cars to be manufactured and they currently operate with Porterbrook owned Class 144 2-car units.

Both fleets are leased by Northern where they will remain until at least the end of the current franchise.
